Some of the things that you should bring along are as follows:  Proper clothing that will make you comfortable.  I would suggest a short sleeved shirt but also have a sweatshirt or light jacket on hand in case it gets cool or you just get chilled and want more clothing.  There is an old saying about heat – once you get down to your bare skin there is NOTHING else to take off!  Not that you or anyone is getting naked but perhaps having a tee shirt on is going to make you more comfortable if you need to shed some garment ( s)  like a sweater-sweatshirt.  You can work up a sweat real easy if the shrimping gets rocking!  They can give you a workout when they are streaming by!

Bring your favorite bug spray.  There is an area south of where we shrimp called “Mosquito Lagoon”  - take a guess why it has that name!!! Most nights that there is a little breeze and it is very comfortable but when it is calm those little helicopters are out looking for fresh blood.

You may want to bring a small cooler but I also have disposable ones on hand that you can buy for $5.00.  I have ice on board.  You can bring your own snacks,  water or soft drinks, but ZERO alcoholic beverages!!  The only drugs you should on have you ( if any ) better be the doctor prescribed ones!  Anyone with alcohol or illegal drugs is going to get a real quick ride back to the boat ramp and your shrimping venture will end there!!!

Children must have on a life preserver.  I have the required coast guard approved on board but they are NOT the most comfortable.  I would suggest the vest type which when you get the right one you would not even know or remember you have one on.  If you are an adult and can NOT swim a lick, you may want to wear a comfortable one as well. There are all types from neck/shoulder to waist style and they are not cumbersome

I do NOT expect anyone to fall over and go for a swim but best to be prepared.  TRUST ME if you fall overboard I know what to do and you would not be in the water for long!   And you would not have to worry about going over the falls and being swept away.  The river where we shrimp is part of the inter-coastal waterway and in places is only two hundred feet across. The widest area I don’t think is maybe six hundred feet across. The point I am making here is that you could not drift off into the abyss if you tried!  I also have enough flood and spot lights on my boats to light up a stadium! I am all about safety and that we become real clear to you when you step on board!!!

If you have shrimped before and have your own favorite dip net you are welcome to bring it along but I have ALL the gear on board that we will need for the dipping shrimp process.

Boots are not necessary but if you have a comfortable ones you might want to have them on or on hand.  Not that the deck is wet but we are on the water and I would not suggest having on a $200.00 pair of leather shoes on either. Some type of deck shoe or boot is advisable because they prevent slipping.
