Catch my own shrimp? YES you can!.  The Halifax and Indian River have an abundance of local shrimp most commonly referred to as “Oak Hill Reds”  They travel up and down the river and move with the tide. When the shrimp are on the move and running, catching/dipping for them is a blast for young and old! If you can stand or sit for that matter, hold a dipping net with one or both hands, YOU can catch them!!!

The season for this type of shrimping generally runs from about mid-February through June.  Of course every year is different.  If you asked me what are the prime months I would say March and April.

You or a boat is allowed five gallons per boat. Meaning five gallons per boat, NOT five gallons per person! That is a BUNCH of shrimp which equates to about thirty-five ( 35 ) pounds. Most people would not eat or consume that much in a year!

They are revered to be some on the sweetest and most succulent shrimp around!  And there is nothing like fresh caught fish or shrimp.  If you catch them yourself, that takes the guesswork out about how fresh they are real quick!!!

It is my job to put you on the meat and if you run/charter with me, that will be the plan!!! The best advertisement in the world is a satisfied customer - and that is my goal to please and satisfy my customers!
